STIG LINDBERG Gustavsberg Sweden Faience Lidded Gourd Scandinavian Art Pottery

Fabulous mid century art pottery lidded bowl, by Stig Lindberg for Gustavsberg, is in the popular gourd shape. The gourd is hand painted with brightly colored flowers and is approx. 8 1/2" tall and 7 3/4" in diameter. The piece has some normal glaze imperfections (skips and pops) and several manufacturing imperfections of note. The base has a slight indentation along the top rim (above the pink flowers), which is under the glaze. Likewise, the lid has a chip, which is also under glaze. One other minor thing is a small excess bit of clay on the underside of the lid.....the bottom of this piece has chipped and feels rough. The interior of the base shows crazing (it is a bit more prominent than reflected in our photos), but none is visible elsewhere. Besides the chipped excess clay, there are no post-manufacture chips or cracks and normal signs of light use/wear.
